Help Diesel Return to a Healthy & Happy Life!

Diesel arrived at West Suburban Humane Society from Hancock County Animal Control in March 2017 as an adorable ten-week-old puppy.

Diesel was adopted quickly, staying in the kennel for only a week. Unfortunately, after four years, his adopter returned him to us due to a lifestyle change. At West Suburban Humane Society, we make a lifelong commitment to our animals the moment they walk through our door. We always take our adopted animals back, whatever the reason, whenever they need us.

Diesel was understandably nervous being back in the kennel, but he adapted quickly. He has such a sweet personality that he soon became a volunteer favorite. After a few days, we noticed that Diesel was not putting weight on his right back leg. We took him to the vet, where X-rays confirmed that he had a torn ACL. The vet recommended that we see an orthopedic specialist to determine a treatment plan. Upon further examination, the specialist determined that Diesel needed surgery to correct the tear. Because Diesel is a larger dog, he must have a specialized surgery called a TPLO. It is an extensive surgery with an eight- to ten-week recovery.

As you can imagine, Diesel’s surgery is very costly, totaling about $6,000. Donating toward Diesel’s surgery will not only guarantee that Diesel will get the medical care he needs, but it will also help the adoption center when other animals are in crisis. By taking some of Diesel’s financial burden off West Suburban Humane Society now, you will be putting us in a better position to support the next homeless pet with medical issues.

Diesel deserves a pain-free life, and when you donate to his cause, you will help make that goal a reality. Diesel will soon have his surgery and will be recovering with one of our foster families. Once he is completely healed, Diesel will be up for adoption. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky and will have a best friend for life!

Thank you for considering a donation for Diesel and others like him who need extensive medical care. Your donation can and does save lives!
