Volunteer Spotlight - Moving Help

As excited as we have been for our new adoption center to open, we knew moving from our home for the past 30 years was not going to be an easy task.

Making the transition for the animals, the staff, the volunteers, and the public as seamless as possible would require lots of planning and lots of manpower.  The actual move was fast-tracked when the governor issued the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order.  As always, our volunteers rose to the challenge and pitched in to tackle everything and anything that WSHS needed to settle into our new home.  Volunteers joined together to accomplish all of this and so much more:

  • Moving and building the cat condos,
  • Assembling the shelving units in the storage room,
  • Cleaning out the shed and the old ISO/storage runs,
  • Moving the dogs and cats into the new building,
  • Transferring remaining supplies to the new building after the animals moved,
  • Cleaning the dog runs and cat enclosures in the old building,
  • Unpacking boxes (moved items and shipped items) and putting everything in its new place,
  • Cleaning construction debris from the outdoor runs and yards,
  • Organizing prep rooms and the storage room,
  • Fine tuning any glitches while we settled into the new facility.

In this volunteer spotlight, we would like to give thanks to everyone who assisted in our move into the new adoption center.  We are so very happy to be home again!
