West Suburban Humane Society is partners with CARS, a Vehicle Donation Charity fundraising agent that helps individual vehicle donors seeking to support non-profit organizations around the country.

What can I donate?

All vehicles are considered! CARS strives to accept all types of donated vehicles (running or not) including cars, trucks, trailers, boats, RVs, motorcycles, campers, off-road vehicles, planes, heavy equipment, farm machinery, and most other motorized vehicles. To find out if they can accept your vehicle, please complete their secure online vehicle donation form, or call them during regular hours of operation.

Is my donation tax deductible?

WSHS Shelter is a non-profit corporation, so your donation is tax deductible. Since each case is different, it is best to consult your tax advisor for details or visit www.irs.gov for a more detailed overview.

My car hasn’t run in years?

Yes! CARS can accept most vehicles, running or not. However, it must be in one piece and towable, have an engine, and be tow truck accessible. To find out if they can accept your vehicle, please complete the secure online vehicle donation form, or call them. Their Donor Support Team is available seven days a week during regular hours of operation.

Is there any cost to me?

There is no cost to the donor. All expenses are deducted from the gross sales price, and if the costs ever exceed the price, those costs are covered by our vehicle donation program provider CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services).

What do I need to do to make a donation?

Have the title to the vehicle with you when you call. Answer a few questions about the car, fill in the odometer reading and sign the title and then schedule a pickup time. You will be contacted by our towing agent within two business days and receive a tax donation letter in 6-8 weeks. Towing service is available nationwide. That’s it!

When can I call?

Operators are taking calls during the following times: 

• Monday through Friday - 5:00 am to 7:00 pm (PT)
• Saturday - 6:00 am to 5:00 pm (PT)
• Sunday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (PT)
